The greatest thing about Marvel is the fact that they can actually make me hate their characters. Not hate them for that fact that they’re shitty, but that their actions within the comic universe makes me hate them. Even movies have a hard time doing this but along comes Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man and BAM! I hate him…

I remember when I was younger I would watch Iron Man cartoons and he was cool and all, robot man flying through the sky kicking The Mandarin’s ass. It was pretty cool and I never really disliked any Marvel characters, be they hero or villain.

Then I began reading Civil War…

Automatically I was like, geez Tony you twat - way to backstab everybody who’s ever helped you out. I mean he even screwed over Spiderman… WHO THE HELL WANTS TO SCREW OVER SPIDERMAN BESIDES DOC OC!? He’s like the hero that all the heroes like, even Wolverine!

Being Australian I never had an affinity for Captain America either… I held no patriotism. Strange right? But man, all I wanted was for Captain America to beat the absolute snot out of Tony…

Here’s Tony with a wealth of money, no family, apparently only a select amount of friends, technology available to continually upgrade himself and he’s got nothing to fear… Then you’ve got Spiderman, family, very little money, his powers are his powers - they don’t upgrade, and then Tony is all “Hey man, you have to tell everybody who you are because otherwise people will get angry, like, totally angry k?”… Fuck you Tony.

THEN I began reading Planet Hulk… Oh man… Tony, you’re an asshole. That’s all I want to say on that one… I still have to finish the series but man I hope Hulk takes you apart…

Anyway, what I’m really trying to say is, if you haven’t read these comics - or any of the latest Marvel series’ - then get onto it. They are god damned awesome!
